[applause] i want you to know i am excited about the prospects for our country. i am not down in the dumps. i know we face real challenges and concerns but the american people are creative, can do, hardworking. the american people have what it takes to come out of these tough times if we got the right person leading our nation. [applause] and if we pull together. i've seen the greatness of the american spirit time and again. over my lifetime i've seen something about the great character of the american heart. i have a favorite story i've been telling across the country about a time when i served as a boy scout leader. we have a few here. thank you for helping in that program. i was at the court of honor room. boy scout court of honor is where you get awards. i was seated at the end of the table next to the american flag that was there. and the person who was speaking at the podium was the scout master from colorado. and he spoke about how his troop wanted to have a very special americ
